Research Interests
My main field of interests is geological engineering focusing on geoenvironmental engineering. I am interested in various topics related to geoenvironmental engineering:
- Design and analysis of hazardous waste containment systems
- Interaction of contaminants with bentonite
- Modeling of contaminant transport in porous media
- Remediation of contaminated groundwater
- Site characterization of contaminated sites
- CO2 mineralization using industrial by products
- Slope stability analysis of soil and rock structures

Professional Membership
- American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE)
- Geological Society of Korea
- Korean Society of Soil and Groundwater Environment
- Korea Society of Economic and Environmental Geology

Awards
- Severson Geotechnical Award (2003) – University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Suktop Excellent Teaching Award (2005) – Korea University
